Melissa and Justin were married the first day of summer at the beautiful Briarwood Inn in Golden, Colorado. I had met Melissa through our mutual friend, Elaine, who was also a former AmeriCorps NCCC Team Leader with me several years ago in South Carolina. In 2010 I had the honor of creating the floral arrangements for Elaine’s wedding. Melissa, who was a bridesmaid then, reached out to me after she and Justin got engaged and needed flowers for her own wedding. I am so glad she did!
Melissa and Justin’s wedding colors were navy blue, peach, and cream. Melissa wanted something very soft and romantic to compliment the richness of the navy. For her bouquet we chose a lovely combination of cream peonies, prospero dahlias, peach aubade roses, peach lisianthus, pink freesia, deep pink ranunculus, and baby’s breath. Her bouquet was wrapped in navy satin ribbon with an overlay of lace from her mother’s wedding dress. So sweet! Melissa’s bridesmaids in beautiful floor length navy blue dresses, carried soft and simple bouquets mostly of baby’s breath. Each bouquet was unique, however, with three stems of one specific variety of flowers found in Melissa’s bouquet. One bridesmaid held baby’s breath and prospero dalias, one bridesmaids held baby’s breath and pink freesia, one bridesmaid held baby’s breath and peach aubade roses, etc. The gorgeous cream peonies were specific to the floral pieces for the happy couple. Justin wore a boutonniere created from a cream peony bud with an accent of baby’s breath. The groomsmen, dressed in medium gray, wore boutonnieres that matched each of the different bridesmaids’ bouquets.
