GORGEOUS WINTER STYLED SHOOT – DECEMBER, 2014

Sometimes you meet people and you click right away; the conversation flows well, you feel really comfortable around that other person, and there is an ease and familiarity, even if it’s the first time you’ve actually met. This is how I felt with Chris and Sara – like we were old friends.

I had worked on a beautiful wedding a few months back with Chris of Chris Loring Photography, but only had the opportunity to talk to her second shooter. Chris said she was there when I handed the bride her bouquet, but since all my attention was focused on the bride and the nerve-wracking moment of handing over her bridal bouquet, I have no memory of anything else. A bridal bouquet is never just a bunch of flowers – it is a personal expression of my love, creativity, attention, thought, and care, all wrapped together in a beautiful ribbon. This time is was pink satin.

When Chris and I met up for coffee to learn more about each others’ businesses, I knew this was a top-notch Photographer. Her work is incredible and Chris is full of passion, knowledge, and energy! I enjoyed talking with Chris so much that it was hard to leave the coffee shop at closing time. Chris mentioned that she wanted to do a winter styled shoot and I said I would be interested in collaborating. I met Sara of Sara Brown Weddings shortly after. Sara is incredibly likeable and genuine, and she has a keen eye for design. Plus, she is extremely organized and thorough. She actually reminds me of a dear college friend of mine. I asked Sara if she was interested in collaborating on a winter styled shoot, and fortunately for us, she was. The concept of our gorgeous, mountain-based Holiday styled shoot was born soon afterwards.

Through this shoot I had the opportunity to work with other awesome wedding professionals, one of whom was the bride Chris and I had worked with earlier in the year! These amazing vendors included Goldmine Cupcakes, EYM Bridal Designs, Blue Ink Studio, Old Wood Soul, a & be bridal shop, Ultrapom, and Kari Jordan Makeup. Sara and Calvin were our beautiful models and our shoot was held at the lovely Granby Ranch in Granby, Colorado.

The densely-packed bridal bouquet was made from deep red peonies, pink roses, white ranunculus, varigated holly berry, green trachelium, red berzilia baubles, and carolina sapphire. I also added a variety of non-floral elements, including mini succulents, baby pine cones, cinnamon sticks, jingle bells, crocheted flowers, and home-made peppermint bark. There was so much texture to this bouquet! For the centerpiece I used deep red peonies, pink roses, varigated holly, carolina sapphire, white ranunculus, cotton pods, pine cones, and succulents.

Our styled shoot was a ton of fun – there was lots of chatter, laughter, and squeals of delight! We were honored to subsequently be featured in two wedding publications, COUTUREcolorado and Rocky Mountain Bride. Words cannot convey how much I loved being a part of this amazing collaboration. The process was lively and the final product was stunning. I look forward to working with all of these wonderful vendors again in the future!
