Children’s Museum of Denver’s Birthday Bash – May, 2015

It is with great honor to say that Love Letters Floral Design was the Floral Sponsor of the Children’s Museum of Denver‘s 2015 Birthday Bash, Anything Can Happen, Anything Can Be. When fellow Wedding Professional, former co-worker, and friend, Lindsey of Piece of Cake Weddings & Events, who co-chaired the Birthday Bash planning committee, reached out and asked if I was interested in a sponsorship opportunity, I literally jumped. The event was to be a Shel Silverstein themed fundraiser. Not only do I adore the Children’s Museum of Denver (they have an incredible bubble exhibit!), in addition to having worked in the nonprofit sector myself for many years, but Shel Silverstein has always been my absolute favorite author. I grew up with his books, The Giving Tree, A Light in the Attic, Where the Sidewalk Ends, and The Missing Piece. It was almost as if the stars had aligned to bring this amazing opportunity my way.

I was going to be out of town the day of the actual event, as well as a few days beforehand, so I designed centerpieces that had minimal perishables, but still incorporated some floral components. For the Corporate Sponsor tables I created a scene from The Giving Tree, which included a tree made from a piece of real aspen branch and a seeded eucalyptus topper, which acted as the leaves of the tree. For the guest tables I created a scene from another great Shel Silverstein classic, The Missing Piece, which involved a cut out of ‘It’ and a red Gerbera Daisy. These centerpieces were a creative challenge, but I was thrilled with how turned out.

Another BIG thank you goes to the super crafty Lorena of Matika Studios who designed and cut out the stencils with the book phrases that were painted on all four sides of the centerpiece containers.
